RIDE TO RAJASTHAN | Pushkar Pitstop
Welcome to Pushkar, a 'shanti' town of tourists, authentic shops and lots of cows.
We arrived in the afternoon after yet another long ride on the Indian highways. Arriving into Pushkar is a short trek over the mountain, into the graceful low lying valley and crowned by splendid mountain scenery - truly a beautiful place.
We found our way through the narrow streets just wide enough for the motorbikes and wandering foreigners, to locate Hotel Paramount Palace (every hotel is named "something something" palace btw).
This beautiful spot was recommended by a friend. It’s neatly tucked behind the main streets and boasts the best rooftop view of Pushkar.
This tranquil hippy paradise is so me! Shown to our room, we have a pink balcony and a view of a bright lilac house. The room has vibrant stained glass and idyllic murals painted all over. Outside, the guest house is painted in a mixture of sweet pastels, vibrant greens and oranges. Can you tell I’m in awe? I can’t help but think why every country isn’t painted to look this amazing?
We managed to catch the sunset over the lake whilst listening to some Indian drums and sipping on a Chai. Bumping into a fellow traveller we met in Udaipur, he told us about a great pizza place - I welcomed the change after almost a week of curries.
The next morning we dined alfresco on the rooftop of Hotel Paramount (It really does have the best view). Stopped for coffee in a local real Italian coffee place and set our sights on doing some real shopping.
Not much time to spare we were back on the bike to Jaipur to catch a train to Goa...
